They are experiencing significant growth and have the need to take on a senior practitioner with 3 to 10+ years PQE to join the team and make a meaningful impact.
Responsibilities: Legal Representation : Provide expert legal representation and strategic advice to clients facing a range of criminal charges, including but not limited to serious offences such as homicide, fraud, drug trafficking, and white-collar crime. Handle complex criminal cases from inception to resolution, advocating vigorously for clients' rights and interests.
Case Management : Oversee a diverse and demanding caseload, managing all aspects of criminal matters, including legal research, evidence gathering, witness interviews, drafting legal documents, and developing effective defence strategies. Maintain meticulous attention to detail and ensure adherence to relevant laws, regulations, and court procedures.
Courtroom Advocacy : Present compelling arguments in court, demonstrating exceptional oral advocacy skills and the ability to effectively cross-examine witnesses. Exhibit confidence, professionalism, and a commanding presence in the courtroom while advocating for clients' rights and seeking the most favourable outcomes.Client Consultation : Consult with clients to understand their cases, explain legal processes and potential outcomes, and provide ongoing advice and guidance throughout their legal proceedings. Maintain open lines of communication and ensure clients are well-informed and supported.
Legal Analysis and Strategy : Conduct thorough legal research, analyse complex issues, and assess the strengths and weaknesses of cases. Develop innovative defence strategies, identify legal precedents, and anticipate potential challenges. Provide expert guidance and advice to clients, empowering them to make informed decisions throughout the legal process.Leadership and Mentoring : Provide leadership and mentorship to junior lawyers, guiding their professional development and fostering a collaborative and supportive team culture. Share expertise, impart legal knowledge, and contribute to the growth of the firm.
Client Relationship Management : Establish and maintain strong relationships with clients, exhibiting empathy, understanding, and discretion. Demonstrate exceptional client service skills, effectively communicating legal concepts and options, managing expectations, and providing continuous updates and reassurance.Experience and Qualifications: Legal Qualifications : admitted as a Barrister & Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Western Australia. Extensive Criminal Defence Experience : Possess a minimum of 3 years of experience specialising in criminal defence, gained from reputable law firms or criminal defence practices. Demonstrated expertise in handling complex criminal cases, including experience with high-profile matters, is highly desirable.
Courtroom Excellence : Proven track record of success in the courtroom, with solid advocacy skills and a deep understanding of criminal law, procedure, and evidence. Confidence, composure, and the ability to think quickly under pressure are essential.
Strategic Thinking : Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to assess complex legal issues, conduct comprehensive research, and develop innovative defence strategies. Experience handling challenging cases and developing successful outcomes is highly valued.Leadership and Mentorship : Leading and mentoring junior lawyers, providing guidance, support, and constructive feedback to foster their professional growth. Proven ability to cultivate a collaborative and inclusive team environment.
